Naoden's modular solution valorizes biomass waste for an efficient production of biogas via gasification, a thermochemical process converting solid fuels into syngas - composed of hydrogen and methane, among other things. The syngas can be used in a burner to replace or co-combust with a fossil fuel (natural gas, propane), with the combustion gases able to be used directly as a heat source (dryers, ovens, boilers), or fed into an exchanger to produce hot air.
Naoden's solution allows for short recovery cycles, as the deposits are sourced locally and the modules are installed directly at the place of consumption. Moreover, the pyrolysis process generates biochar as a co-product. Biochar is defined as "organic material carbonized by heating in an oxygen-limited environment", with the main chemical component being carbon from plant waste, stabilized during the pyrolysis process.
Nearly 75% of natural gas consumption is destined for professionals (CRE study) and French industry is one of the largest consumers, particularly in the metallurgy, food processing, automotive, chemical and paper-making sectors. Indeed, these industrial processes require a significant amount of heat, often generated by gas boilers.
All Naoden carbon credits are only available on Riverse registry. The carbon credits covers all the activities of Naoden.
Naoden carbon avoidances and captures are calculated with a cradle-to-grave comparative lifecycle analysis, on "global warming" criteria, following ISO 14067 norm.
All carbon credits currenly available are ex-post, meaning the carbon avoidances and captures have already been verified and thus are real.
Key impact criterias:
Naoden ROI for industrial are still not garanteed to enough to scale its deployment. Carbon credits help to scale the process to be more competitive, respecting the financial additionnality criteria.
There is no regulation making Naoden compulsory, respecting the regulation additionnality criteria.
Naoden enables to store carbon into soil for centuries, implying a high level of permanence
Carbon avoidances are not concerned by permanence criteria as avoidance are effective immediately without reversibility.
Naoden is aligned with the European Taxonomy and do not harm any of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Avoidance of leakage is also taken into account during the certification process.
