Recnorec develops a thermomechanical process recycling plastic wastes that would be burnt otherwise. These wastes are first transformed into composite boards and the final material is finally processed by our ESAT partners for various outdoor applications: urban furniture, coastal or landscape development, etc.Unlike traditional recycling methods, this innovative low-tech process does not require any prior sorting or washing and therefore allows considerable savings in water and energy. The Recnorec solution comes after the stages of prevention, reuse and recycling of plastic waste. Our solution is the last line of defence before landfill and incineration.
Even if in common understanding, plastic wastes are widely recycled, it is absolutely not the case. In France, more than half of plastic waste is at best burnt to create energy, if not worse.
All Recnorec carbon credits are only available on Riverse registry. The carbon credits covers all the activities of Recnorec.
Recnorec carbon avoidances are calculated with a cradle-to-grave comparative lifecycle analysis, on "global warming" criteria, following ISO 14067 norm.
All carbon credits currenly available are ex-post, meaning the carbon avoidances have already been verified and thus are real.
Key impact criterias:
Currently, alternatives to Recnorec are 4 times more carbon-intensive but far cheaper. Carbon credits help to scale the process to be more competitive, respecting the financial additionnality criteria.
There is no regulation making Recnorec very efficient recycling process compulsory, respecting the regulation additionnality criteria.
Carbon avoidances are not concerned by permanence criteria as avoidance are effective immediately without reversibility.
Recnorec is aligned with the European Taxonomy and do not harm any of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Avoidance of leakage is also taken into account during the certification process.
